Stockport’s new £50m mixed use Interchange scheme will deliver a state-of-the-art transport interchange and high-quality residential development with at-ground access from Wellington Road South, a main arterial route connecting regions south of Stockport with Manchester to the north. To be completed by 2022, the new Interchange will further boost Stockport’s position as one of the best-connected town centres in the North-west.
Capital&Centric’s recent acquisition of Weir Mill will bring about the restoration of the historic listed mill complex alongside new-build residential development. The scheme is supported by a £7m grant award from Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund. Transformation of this key heritage asset in a pivotal Town Centre West location is a major statement of intent both by Capital&Centric and the Stockport MDC. The development will enhance the frontage onto the River Mersey, opening up public access to the waterside, while also providing ground floor commercial spaces including café-bars, delis and independent shops.
